Dramatic Productions presents Absurd Person Singular by Alan Ayckbourn. Ayckbourn is arguably Britain’s most popular playwright and Absurd Person Singular is one of his most popular plays. An inspired comedy dealing with marital tensions, Absurd Person Singular is easily as fresh and provocative today as it was when it was first written nearly forty years ago.
Set over three Christmases in the kitchens of three couples: Sidney Hopcroft, an ambitious tradesman, and his submissive wife Jane; architect Geoffrey Jackson and his depressed wife, Eva and banker Ronald Brewster-Wright and his alcoholic wife Marion.
Disaster reins at all three parties, and the Hopcroft's attempt to advance to prosperity and independence, sees the decline of the others.
Sidney Hopcroft – Sean Pogmore
Jane Hopcroft – Rebecca Lagrand
Geoffrey Jackson – Leigh Haywood
Eva Jackson – Sasha Paul
Ronald Brewster-Wright – Christopher Mellows
Marion Brewster-Wright – Julia Savill
Directed by – Frank Holden
Bournemouth Echo: “Actors are Outstanding!”
Stour and Avon Magazine: “The production, directed by the excellent Frank Holden was fast paced and wittily, cleverly moved and the outstanding cast of six captured their weird, addictive, weak, patronising or just plain nasty characters with pin-point accuracy”.
View from the West Cliff: “The audience were convulsed with laughter!”
SceneOne: “Well worth seeing!”
