A five-times Blues Music Award nominee for Most Promising Artist, and for Contemporary Male Blues Artist, Larry was inducted into the Louisiana Blues Music Hall of Fame in 2002.
Larry was honoured as Blues Music Songwriter of the Year three times and twice awarded Bluesman of the Year by Real Blues Magazine.
“If you haven’t discovered the brilliance of Larry Garner, then you should jump on this bandwagon. These are blues for today, real good to the last note stuff.” – Big City Blues
American bluesman Larry Garner has found a true soulmate in British blues veteran Norman Beaker.
As Garner was paying his dues in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Beaker cut his gigging teeth in Northern England with legends such as Alexis Korner, Jack Bruce, Chuck Berry, B.B. King,
Buddy Guy, Jimmy Rogers, Graham Bond and countless other greats.
On stage together, Larry and Norman draw from the same musical roots. Garner’s powerful vocals and musicianship make him a natural frontman, and his songs are delivered with a sense of irony and expressive lyrics both lyrical and amusing. The combination of his wonderfully powerful voice and skilled guitar playing make for an unforgettable performance.
As a Baton Rouge native, Larry picked up on the Swamp Blues distinct to that area, inspired by artistes such as Silas Hogan and Clarence Edwards. He has won a legion of blues awards, including the WC Handy and B.B. King Awards.
Like Larry’s, Norman’s songs are also rich in commentary and contemporary situations, and his Manchester wit is a perfect counterpoint to Larry’s Southern charm. This is a coming together of two modern-day troubadours combining the best of tradition with their own fresh, unique and international style.
