While traveling in Peru at the age of 32, Sam Baker took a train ride that would change his life. On a clear cool morning in Cuzco in the summer of 1986, Sam boarded a passenger train that was blown up minutes later by terrorists. Initially seven people died including a young boy and his parents who were sitting in the same carriage as Sam. Although injured, Sam survived and went on to become a great songwriter and is fast becoming one of the biggest underground Americana success stories of recent years. Imagine Steve Earle, Shane MacGowan and Johnny Cash jamming in a backstreet Texas bar when in comes Nick Cave and the spirit of Townes Van Zandt.
Sam Baker grew up in the Texas prairie town of Itasca. He is a man of few words. Always beautifully chosen, and fully wrought. This will be a show you really wouldn’t want to miss.
Sam released his 5th Album LAND OF DOUBT in July 2017 in which he lays down his acoustic guitar and plays instead the electric. Yet still he does not depart from the haunting and melodic style that has mesmerized critics and fans of his previous music.
